Growing up in Irvington, NJ, I came across a lot of people who claimed to be good friends of mine. Some of the people I spent much of my time with were the same people bringing me down–mentally, physically and emotionally. Once I entered my junior year in college, I made a huge decision to let go of some so called friends.
In order for me to accomplish my goals in life, I had to let go of a lot of things. It felt good knowing that I had the strength to let go of the baggage in my life; I was no longer a bag lady. A bag lady is someone who walks around carrying all of her problems in life–she may be stressing from a bad breakup, negativity, and bitterness.
Currently, one of my projects is a digital narrative that highlights my journey to becoming a writer and educator. In my narrative, you will see and hear how I was able to drop all of my bags–I got rid of negative friends, chemical products, and educated myself.
